Terms
Terms of service
These are the terms for the Dwindle app and for dwindle.app, written to be read. The short version: Dwindle is a nudge, not a lock; one app is free; the things that let you leave are never paid; buying Plus goes through Stripe on the web and through the store on your phone; and we are Boundary Labs Inc., in Canada.
Effective September 17, 2026.
Who we are, and what these terms cover
“Dwindle”, “we” and “us” mean Boundary Labs Inc., a company incorporated in Canada. These terms cover the Dwindle app on your phone and the site at dwindle.app, including buying Plus there. By installing the app or using the site you agree to them; if you do not, please do not use Dwindle. Our privacy policy explains what we do with data and is part of these terms.
Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, and to use the site for your own purposes. The app and the site, their design, their words and the Dwindle name and mark are ours. Open-source components inside the app are used under their own licenses, listed in the app. Your data stays yours.
What Dwindle is, and is not
Dwindle drains the color out of the apps you choose while you use them and restores it when you leave. It never blocks an app, a site or a person, and it never decides for you. It is not medical or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a professional. How you use your phone is your decision; Dwindle is one lever.
Accounts
An account exists to buy Plus on the site and to read that purchase back on your phone. Keep your sign-in to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used it. One person per account. We may close an account that is used to abuse the service, the purchase path or other people.
Free, Plus, and what is never behind the paywall
One app with the full mechanism is free, with no time limit. Plus adds what the pricing page lists, at the prices shown there. Whatever the tier and whatever the price, these are never paid for and never gated:
- The gesture: the triple-click back to color, your escape hatch
- The repair loop: stuck-state detection and the one-gesture fix
- Data export and deletion: your history is always yours to take or erase
- Any safety-relevant function
Buying on this site
Purchases on dwindle.app are taken by Stripe, at the price and in the currency shown at checkout, plus any tax the law adds. A yearly or monthly plan renews at the end of each period until you cancel; a lifetime purchase is one payment, for good. The founding price is a launch-window offer available only while the pricing page shows it. To cancel a plan, open Manage billing on your account page (Stripe’s portal), or write to us through the support page giving the account’s address; the plan then ends when the paid period does. If a purchase did not do what the pricing page said, write within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it. Nothing here limits the refund rights your local law gives you.
Buying on the stores
A purchase made inside the app is a purchase from the store you made it in (Google Play or the App Store) under that store’s terms, its payment methods and its refund process. RevenueCat records the purchase so the app can unlock Plus. A purchase on one platform unlocks Plus in the Dwindle app when you sign in with the same account.
Acceptable use
Do not circumvent the license or the Plus entitlement, resell or sublicense the app, reverse-engineer it beyond what the law lets you do, interfere with the service or the purchase path, or use Dwindle to harm anyone. We may suspend or end access that does.
Ending
You can stop at any time: delete the app, and delete your data on your account page as the privacy policy describes. We can end your license if you break these terms. When it ends, the license ends with it; the sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, limits of liability, governing law) survive.
No warranty
Dwindle is provided as it is. The field studies behind grayscale are real, and they report averages; we make no promise about what it will do for your screen time or your wellbeing. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim every warranty not written here, express or implied.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for anything arising from Dwindle is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Where the law gives you rights we cannot limit, including as a consumer, this section does not reduce them.
Google Play
The Android app is distributed through Google Play under Google Play’s own terms. Nothing in these terms limits Google’s rights under them.
Apple, and the iPhone app
On iPhone, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app in addition to these terms, and the following apply as well. These terms are between you and Boundary Labs Inc. only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. The license covers Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store’s usage rules allow. Boundary Labs Inc. alone is responsible for maintenance and support; Apple has no obligation to provide any. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the price you paid for it; Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claim is ours to handle. Boundary Labs Inc., not Apple, is responsible for any claim about the app: product liability, a failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection, and any claim that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your carrier’s. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Our name and contact: Boundary Labs Inc., through the support page.
Changes
When these terms change, the new version appears here with its date, and account holders hear about a material change by email. Using Dwindle after the date accepts the change.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province in which Boundary Labs Inc. is incorporated, and disputes go to the courts there, without taking away any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live.
